Synopsis
When successful jewellery designer Isla Ashton unexpectedly inherits her eccentric Aunt Kate’s Caribbean island, she is obligated to return to the place she associates with heartache and regret. To where she grew up and fell in love with her childhood friend, Leo Fernandez. Fully intent on selling the island and finally putting the past behind her, Isla is soon compelled to put together the pieces of what really happened on a fateful night ten-years before. She begins to believe that in going to prison, Leo hadn’t only been shielding her from the same fate. She also starts to suspect that her late Aunt hadn’t been entirely honest in sending her away under the guise of recriminations. Who had they both been protecting and why?

Review Island in the sun by Fany Van Hemelen:
What a fascinating story, set in the beautiful Caribbean Islands, with wonderful personalities.

Island in the sun is my first book by Janice Horton and what a nice treasure is this one!

Isla, a successful jewellery designer in London left years ago the Perla Island. Unhappily events led to her sending away from the island. Isla started a new life, but regretted losing her soulmate Leo, her adorable home and couldn’t understand why she had to leave the beautiful place that night.

One day she receives an incredible message. Kate died and left her the island and all her properties. One big problem.. Isla has to return back of the place filled with heartache and confront herself with the past. At Isla Perla she is trying to solve the mystery and when she reads her aunties diary notes, she reveals secrets and finds some answers, but even more questions. Leo appears maybe not the criminal person who he looks earlier and can she forget him and the other ones. First, she just tries to run away and sell the island, but is that what she really wants to do? The most important thing to know to get over with her life is what actually took place that horrible night! And can she give Leo a second chance because all what he was doing since that moment was to prove his love for Kate.

Island in the sun is an absorbing story with lovely and troubled characters, romance and action. This is the perfect book to dream away and to be enchanted by the atmospheric setting and the engrossing tale. I loved it and can say it’s a must-read!
