Review The start of something wonderful by Fany Van Hemelen:
What a great and uplifting (Audio-)book! The start of something wonderful is an easy and well-written feel good-story. I dare to say, this is a fantastic chicklit. I do love Sophie Kinsella, because she makes me smile and I always have an entertaining time with her books. Jane Lambert is for me a lovely new discovery in this style of books and I love this novel too so please write more books Jane!

Emily Forsyth has a plan, but one day her world collapses when her boyfriend left her. As an air stewardess, she was with Nigel, an air pilot, and first, when he dumped her, she was devastated.

After a while, the 40 year old woman, decides it’s never too late to follow your dreams.
She quits her job and is determined to get a career as an actress. Now she isn’t following the rules of others anymore, but she is definitely choosing for her own happiness.

Of Course life is bumpy and Emily has a path to follow with many challenges, but this book proves that when you want something everything is achievable. Maybe it’s not like you had your future planned and for Ellie this was the same, but everything happens for a reason . The trip and new way of living has a lot of surprises and unexpected turns and twists for her.

If you want to know if Ellie‘s career change and new lifestyle has a happy ending, you just have to read the book yourself. I can’t say nothing else, because I don’t want to give away spoilers.
I really adored the colourful characters and the funny scenes in The start of something wonderful.

This is such a gorgeous feel good-story that I am sure this is an inspirational read for many people. Just listen to the hilarious voice who tells the story, laugh with the adventures of Emily and relax with a humorous and positive book. If you have a bad day, I think you will feel yourself better after listening this book.

When the book is hopefully going to be broadcast as a comedy drama this will be a cheerful and very entertaining tv-show!

Jane Lambert taught English in Vienna then travelled the world as cabin crew, before making the life-changing decision to become an actor and voiceover artist in her mid-thirties. She has appeared in “Calendar Girls”, “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time”, “Deathtrap”, and most recently “True West” in London’s West End. She has recorded audiobooks for BBC AudioGo, Isis Publishing and HarperCollins. She is currently adapting “The Start of Something Wonderful” into a 6-part comedy drama for TV.
