Archimimus

Recensie Archimimus door Fany van Hemelen:
The life and times of Lukitt Bachmann

Synopsis
The stunning new historical thriller from Clio Gray, the acclaimed author of the Scottish Mysteries series.
Lukitt Bachmann is waiting in his Lanterne de Mortes, a Tower of the Dead, in the middle of a cemetery.
He’s had a complicated life: son of a Herrnhuter Brother thrown out of his sect; help-meet to a pastor; sailor; fisherman; boar-hunter; and student and lecturer, exploring the varied histories of the Knights Teutonic and the bone-chapels their descendants left behind them.
He has become an assassin and a murderer, learned the terrible highs and lows of friendships made and lost, and is awaiting now his last remaining friend to set him free so he can put right past wrongs.
As Lukitt is let loose on a world gone mad, can this avenging angel finally find solace for his soul?

Archimimus is a very unusual book, but it shows you the strange path of Lukitt Bachmann in an intriguing way.

Lukitt Bachmann has never been like someone else. He was given away by his parents to guide him through a better life. If that worked out? Well he has an odd life that’s for sure.. As a kid he grow up by people he didn’t know but from the beginning of his life he had one attitude. Lukitt always was curious and eager to learn. He did stay a thinker till the end and had brought a lot of stolen time in the library. I loved his character that even though he didn’t had an easy journey always was very fascinating. He had friends, enemies and some hard things to settle.

I can’t spoil anything but I can assure you the end of the book is quite something. I am not sure if I hate it or if it was the way it has to end. It is complex like the book is but like the other chapters the end is perfectly in balance with the story and surprising.

Clio Gray has written a detailed historical novel about being an outsider.

Archimimus is a journey about a special man and the facts he has to face all his life. If you love something different than this book is for you.
