Duality – Lies and Misdirections Series Book 5: Two sides of the same coin

What started out as a normal art restoration project for Melinda Martin soon took on a life of its own. Could this unusual painting actually be a Botticelli masterpiece thought to have perished as part of Savonarola’s Bonfire of the Vanities? Had Melinda’s friend, Lana, a well-known art picker inadvertently acquired stolen art; art that might have ties to the occult and worth millions? Did a bad business decision endanger everyone who touched this potential treasure?

When the painting disappears and both women are found dead, the police think it’s an open and shut case. The husband – it’s always the husband. He had means, motive, and opportunity, and acted strangely cold after the fact.

Is it a case of mistaken identity? Does a secret relationship put Mr. Martin in the crosshairs of an assassin sent to retrieve the painting? Or is he really a sociopath forger with mysterious ties to the Vatican?

Review Duality by Fany Van Hemelen:
Two sides of the same coin is the fifth intriguing installment in the Lies and Misdirections Series.
If you know me, maybe you already read my other reviews of other books in this legal series.

In Duality: Two sides of a same coin, the team is back on stage with all their typical characters. The ninety-one year old stubborn Mary is as always a treat and I love the other ones too. When the team has to visit Italy to solve the mystery I meet other new fascinating team members.

When two dead bodies are found it looks a simple case. The husband Mr Martin is off course the bad one but is he? Money laundry and forging art and even The Vatican has a role. But what actually happened could be a threat to the whole team and can change lives forever.

The surprising effect in this book is the question that everybody is to trust or are their suspicious things that they didn’t know about their friends?

Once again I loved the realistic and entertaining writing and the twisted plots so I look forward to new books of this author.
